Children’s singer, songwriter, twice JUNO nominated recording artist, creator of animated music videos.
Rosalie sang across Canada for hundreds of thousands of children and their teachers, parents or grandparents. Journalists, called her songs, “positive,” “empowering,” “fun,” “toe taping for adults”, and “educational.” Feelings, real life issues, fantasy and fun are Rosalie’s specialty. Her perceived mission is to make kids feel good about themselves; to help them build self-confidence through musical themes and involvement with others.
She started singing in her daughter’s nursery school, (with her ukulele and rhythm instruments.) Then went on to give Music for Children programs at many libraries, day camps and other nursery or private schools.
Soon, she teamed up with another children’s songwriter, Jim Duchesneau. (Jim and Rosalie) as a singing duo. They recorded 3 albums and sang in elementary schools, and at large venues. Later, Rosalie became a solo children’s performer and recorded a solo album.
At Sheridan College, Oakville for ECE undergraduates, she taught Sparking Creativity Through Music. And in many provinces, Rosalie gave workshops for teachers, Self-Expression through Music - teaching teachers how to use music, movement, drama, and visual art, within the curricula.
In 2022, Rosalie brought her recorded music to the digital world. She was nominated for Best Album, Best Animated Music Video, and Best Artist by Funky Kids Music Global Entertainment Awards, ’23 and ‘24. Now, she is embarking on a new album granted by The Ontario Arts Council and the Ontario Government! Her heart is always with children.
The Rainbow Song
This children's music video is about acknowledging good feelings inside, using a rainbow as conductor - feeling love, spreading it to others, yet keeping enough for ourselves. I've created the video as magical, fun, colorful, and yet on solid ground, as we all need to have self-esteem, and self-love so we can love others. Children at Sunnyview School for those with disabilities loved this song and many trudged up to the front in wheel chairs and crutches to sing on stage with me! I'll never forget it. They knew every word and sang it out loud!
